How to open NAT in most games full guide as easy as possible

Recommended Posts

NAT stands for Network Address Translation. It is the ability of a router to translate a public IP address to a private IP address and vice versa. ... Once the ports are successfully opened, the NAT Type will change to Open or Moderate. Thus, making the gaming console work successfully online.

There is 3 type of NAT

With an OPEN NAT type, you’re able to chat with other people, as well as join and host multiplayer games with people who have any NAT type on their network.

With a MODERATE NAT type, you’re able to chat and play multiplayer games with some people; however, you might not be able to hear or play with others, and normally you won’t be chosen as the host of a match.

With a STRICT NAT type, you’re only able to chat and play multiplayer games with people who have an OPEN NAT type. You can’t be chosen as the host of a match.

First step is to enable UPNP in router

You have to type your default gateway ip address on any website. Login username and password by default mostly is admin for username and password admin but varys by brand.

https://proprivacy.com/guides/default-router-login-details best to change to a custom one so it don't get hack easily. Next step find WAN and enable UPNP

If you do not know your ip address another way is through file explorer>network

another step is through command promp and type ipconfig /all to know your default gateway.

Second step

Port forward

To port forward you need to know the port of the game example codwaw

Call of Duty: World at War - PC
TCP: 28960
UDP: 3074,28960

so go to router wan setting and port forward and fill this in, can be vary depending on brand.

So how do i know which internal ip address do i use?

cmd>ipconfig /all> make sure use the network adapter you use look the example ethernet adapter Ethernet if wireless its different.

Third step DMZ

Demillitarized Zone ( Not recommended unless you know what you are doing )

In computer security, a DMZ or demilitarized zone is a physical or logical subnetwork that contains and exposes an organization's external-facing services to an untrusted network, usually a larger network such as the Internet.

Go to WAN>DMZ and put the ip address

Fourth Step

Allows an app through Windows Firewall

To make OPEN NAT

you have to put both private and public tick under change settings to enable to edit, if it does not work disable all for that app and reenable again to make it work because sometimes application can be updated and things changed

You should have OPEN NAT for that specfic game now, Enjoy gaming

If it does not work try disable Windows defender because there might be chance it could be the reason also, it reduce fps and performance of the pc slightly. Security = lower performance. Also upgrading router might help open NAT but ISP also matter depending on your country, everything is vary.
